Hello

It may be redundant but while im installing the game i might take some time to help out brand new players.
I will not write down exact rules of what exactly you should be doing, mostly guidelines ,of what expects you.
Things like that you could for example find here:http://forums.archeagegame.com/showthread.php?33877-Meliran-s-Complete-Archeage-Leveling-Guide

First of all, it depends:

>If you are leveling your first character
>If you are leveling your alt

When the first character is in question, things start slow, (well with these rates not as much but still :)
it mainly depends if you are:

I. Completionist ,you want to explore the world, finish storylines etc
or
II. You simply want to skip to the max in the shortest amount of time possible

I. Most of the time i could never fully ignore the beautifull concept new games attract me with, and following questlines makes you do exactly that.
With high labor/exp rates and free patron you are bound to progress faster than in official servers, and your main concern should be following main questlines ,and occasionally spending labor.

There are all maner of archivements out there, Archeage has very deep and complex world, and by exploring archivements window, you could get the idea about where to start, and what to pay attention to.

Primarily ,activate any boosts you have access to, exp, vocation, tonics, and tend to play durring the time they last, this will allow you to outscale the content by few levels ,and kill monsters faster.

Best results should be with completely following all quests you see up to around level 10-15 ,untill you pick up
*Mount
*Glider
*Blue Salt Quests - the ones that grant you free farms

Than focusing only on the main quest lines and getting as many raw stone/bricks/ hereafter ,as you can, since you will be traveling quite the distances most of the time.

Use the opportunities to explore any mountain peaks, hidden areas, and sideareas nearby ,since they could grant you exploration bonus, and sheer fun discovering the world.
(Take care if and when stealing since ,once you go into pvp areas, you might end up in prison and halt your progress.)

Once you are set above lvl 15, focus on doing your first trade runs starting from your local Blue Salt Quest First main city, and do the continental ones.
Sea trades are a bit more complicated since you will need help for them, either by paying gold for a person transporting you, or simply joining forces with friends that own a clipper.Leave that for later, preferably when you get stealth.

Abilities.
Archivement on its own is getting all skill trees to 55 ,but that takes time, simply focus on melee/archery/magic depending on your playstyle.

Plan your own build http://earlygame.net/archeage/builder?r=true or
https://archeagetools.com/skill-calculator/

Follow the routes main quests take you ,and do not pay any attention to upgrading your gear, at least not up untill level 40+
There will also be major leveling checkpoints where you will be able to claim gear and consumables by completing quests ,or simply recieving them via mail.

You can do a trade run or two in the middle of your questing , and earn bonus exp for spending labor on it, and you can just farm things you find in the wilds, and process them, than sell via auction, but be vary of your inventory space since it will be scarce, so do not pick up, or keep things you dont truly need.

Your inventory at most times should consist mainly of ,teleport book, hereafter stones/bricks ,mounts-both donkey and fast mount type, glider, and gear quest reward for the next level,
aside from that if you can get these items, keep them, which are ,exp boosts ,vocation tonics, scrolls and potions that improve crafting speeds and exp recieved and any type of higher tier crafting ingredients ,especially if they will be for crafting branch you decide to aim at.

I am not entirely sure about gearing above levels 40, but the game allows you to do menorship even before that, dungeons in which you get gear if you are mentored by higher level player, do the dungeons yourself with other players, or simply buy them over auction.

The main thing should be testing everything you can think of, exploring every corner of the world, and with that you will get the picture of what type of gameplay you like, and where to invest your time in.

For instance:

Investing your time towards trade runs with a donkey more than the blue salt quests demand you to, is not nearly as effective without any type of advanced vehicle and a smart way to constantly provide ingredients.

Highly upgrading your gear before level 50 is not advised since you will strech your resources on the gear you might wear for only a day, or even several hours.

Spending time just exploring might leave you gimped if there is no profitable goal as to where and why you are going. Traveling becouse of trade runs, wild farms, spending labor, and doing dungeons, pve ,and even pvp events is well invested, while just flying around "will get you nowhere". Its fun tho.

Also ,it is advisable to plan ahead: plan your skill tree, or follow popular ones, plan what crafting proficiency you will focus your labor and time in, plan your trade routes- and from that potentialy the very housing/farms location you want to build in. And be patient, and carefull, the wealth builds on time and skill alike, but you can lose much if you bite more than you can chew on, aka, transporting many trade packs through pvp area while being with no escort or pvp gear, or upgrading your only pieces of gear so high that they degrade and or break, so you run around naked after :)

II. You simply want to skip to the max in the shortest amount of time possible

-It is by far most efficient method of leveling alts when you have all the resources to do it
"at home" ,instead of pushing 2 or more characters at the same time.

Alternate characters- aka "alts" are used to be mules for gear, invest labor into other crafting professions, and simply be at more locations ,at the same time.

Getting your main character to level 55 ,using farms/dungeons/raids/pvp/trade runs ,and any other possible means to earn gold and collect raw resources are the start.

Crafting benches award you with moderate amount of exp whenever you turn raw resource into any type of product or piece of gear.Simply farming large scale, awards solid exp, but using it at crafting benches is unparalleled.

Take into consideration the value of for instance
"Bricks, Logs, archeum, cooking and alchemy ingredients etc" before collecting what you need to make them.

And you need many, im talking prepare to buy or gather thousands before you even start.

Get vocation tonic, exp boosts, and crafting speed scrolls ,use any other type of boosts like campfire, sleeping, prophecy, pvp buffs, etc to get as much as much as exp possible in short amount of time.

Make sure you have the full labor pool+ few potions if possible , inventory space, ingredients and boosts, before activating all boosts and starting the craft process.
Also it helps to know if there is a maintenance comming, and stand in places where other people wont be able to push you away with their mounts, vehicles and skills, and stop your crafting, since boosts dont last forever.
Best is to leave your character crafting, but check it out ,every 5 min or so, for labor ,and inventory space.

Other ways of remote exp earning is, crafting trade packs for other people, you get very little profit from this, other people need to trust you, so you should be in a guild when proposing this, and you need alot of labor.
Than there is stealing from others, and their wild farms, you can craft tax, and you could just fish your way out of low levels.

When it comes to Archeage, imagination is the limit.

There should be many guides for leveling, trade routes, efficient planting, housing placement and rotations, gearing, earning gold ,pvp ,and pve, and many other things ! Use google and ,use multiple sources for your information before investing.

__________________________________________________EDIT

Since the lvl 52 labor changes, if you want to speed things up becouse you can not collect resources for now, try this:
I.Fishing ! Autofishing works great combined with what exp potions you get.
II.Take some raw resources like azalea, barley from a friend to turn it to materials.
III.Grind mobs when you are high enough for coinpurses(they still give exp) with the potions you get from the chest, and or invite high level friend to boost you up.
IV.Someone mentioned usage of majestic trees and mining drills is still in effect, that should be checked.
V.Burst through all of the green quests and focus only on them if you are in the rush.
VI.Do guild and auroria quests, they give much more exp and exp variety.

Hi and thank you for the guide. It is very useful for someone new like me although there are a lot of things I still don't understand but I guess I just need to play the game and get used to it.

I have a question concerning the skills for leveling. I chose vitalism and I plan on playing a healer and after checking some guides I found that songcraft and defense would go well with it for a support/healer type character.

Would it be ok to level up or do you recommend something else and then switch skills when reaching high lvl? (If it is even possible to switch )

It's totally possible to switch your skills at any time for a very modest fee.
I would recommend leveling up the abilities you think you will use the most before switching.
You won't have access to you entire skill list until you reach lv 55 in a skill tree.

Personally I was leveling archery but I decided it wasn't for me and switched it out for sorcery.
Now my sorcery skill tree is much father behind my other trees, so I need to continue to level it up to catch it up.

Thank you for the answer! It is great to be able to switch anytime. Can you also switch the first skill you choose when creating a character (in my case vitalism) or only those you choose when leveling.

Finally, would it even be useful to level up as a healer/support character (for like dungeons or other multipayer activities) or is the leveling process mostly solo with group activities only relevant at max lvl. (sorry not much experience in this game yet, but I know in wow for example it would be pointless to level up as a healer because most of the time you do quests solo and nobody does low lvl group activities).

You can switch any of your skills, and you keep whatever skill levels you had so you can always switch back.

Healers are indeed very useful. I don't know a lot about dungeons myself, but in Open world group PvP healers/support can make or break a fight.

Songcraft has good aoe heals and utility, while vitalism is sheer healing, yes that would be solid choice with defence to upkeep yourself.
You can go with auramancy instead of defence as well, personal preference.
