what weapons and gear do you use?

Set: Flaming Passion Shirt,hood,gloves,pants, auroria soulbane shoes,auroria soulbane sleeves, auroria soulbane sash.
weapons/shield: iron sorrow, anticipation,obsidian lute and obsidian bow
rings/earring/necklace: archeum evernight necklace. delphinad wave earring x2. delphinad lightning ring x2
cloack: delphinad twintail
costume/undergarments :magic undergarments and costume

is plate a bad choice? what about using a katana?

if you have plate : The magicians are going to rape you and you lose the casting of the cloth set and the inteligence. The shield compense the defense you dont have but you need to look at the enemy if you give the back you are dead.

The katana: is kinda nerfed and i love the magic pen
