Version check error

Since yesterday I have been unable to play because the client says "Version Check Error" on the client.

I got the same error when I started the client, also the saved password is generating unknown password. I ran repair and then the client allowed me to get in, and every time I am starting the game I have to run repair cause same error poping up.
I hope @IronLady or @Sparkle can look up this issue.

I'm using Malware bytes and windows defender. But I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with them off and even tried to keep them off when launching the client with no luck.

Well the reason why I asked was because I couldn't even access the link in the first place, I had a friend download it and send it to me. That being said, I can't access either of those links. I believe the reason is my ISP is currently preventing access to certain addresses for the time being until I resolve an issue with my account. I'm pretty certain that's my reason in particular because I'm getting a version check error for FFXIV as well. I'm also going to assume it's also preventing the repair function on the launcher from working.

WOW, TY so much! When I went to download what you wanted me to download to test my router redirected me stating that the website needed to be whitelisted THROUGH MY ROUTER. So I just turned off the router's "Home Safety Protection" and now the client works! Thank you @Sparkle

It should have been your internet connection or provider temporary restrictions, if you couldn't open that link. Good to know it was fixed.

Version check error occurs when your connection to the update server is unstable or abruptly cut. It's either something on your connection side or something like your anti virus or Windows protection is blocking the connection.
You should be able to make ArcheRage an exception to your systems protection and they'll ignore it.
Also, go to game folder and remove file "client.version".
