As you all know Kraken Ink Sac is used in Obsidian items final Tier crafts.
Currently this item can be obtained from Kraken only, so item is very rare (1 Kraken drops 1 Kraken Ink Sac) and expensive.

Idea 1

How it's happening now:
After the Kraken death, raid that killed the Kraken gets 1 Kraken Ink Sac.
Then appear Abyssal Crystals and a Whirlpool Isle Specialty Workbench. Interact with them and craft a pack Whirlpool Isle Refined Crystal. It can be sold to Relic Merchants for gold.
Whirlpool Isle Specialty Workbench disappears in 1 hour.

What it will be changed to:
After the Kraken death, raid that killed the Kraken gets 1 Kraken Ink Sac. (no changes here)
Then appear Abyssal Crystals and a Whirlpool Isle Specialty Workbench.
When you use the Whirlpool Isle Specialty Workbench to craft a pack, you'll get a chance, as a result of craft to receive either a Whirlpool Isle Refined Crystal pack that can be turned for gold or new type of the pack that can be turned for Kraken Ink Sac.
1 character will be able to obtain new pack type only once (in case he's lucky) per the event.
But, if player crafts this pack, he needs to turn it in within 1 hour after. If he logs out with a plan to turn it in later than 1 hour, pack will get expired.

That will increase interest to the event from the players side, add more PvP and increase a number of Kraken Ink Sac sold on the market and, as a result, will reduce the item price.

Edit (7/31):

Idea 2

Another alternative method of adding Kraken Ink Sac to the game (to the Kraken event itself, not Abyssal Kraken) that we have is the following:

After the Kraken death, raid that killed the Kraken gets 1 Kraken Ink Sac as before.

But, as you know, upon dying, the Kraken will release Tentacles into the water. These can be collected and worn like trade packs.
The extra packs will be dropped after the Kraken death. That will be Kraken Ink Sac packs that will be possible to turn in for Kraken Ink Sac only.

Such method will also add more PvP and give the chances to all the participants, no matter if they were in the raid that finally killed Kraken.

Can you elaborate on the "you'll get a chance" part?

Ah okay, so it works kind of like the RNG of the fertilizer packs being either Basic or Grand in rarity? Or is the chance of that happening on turn-in? Are you able to elaborate on the odds of this happening?

That would be one way of interpreting the chance. A grand pack over a basic grade pack

You'll know what it is at the moment it's crafted.
I can't give you the details on the chances, but they will be pretty good. We did it the following way, so the more players join the event and participate in crafts, the more Ink will be obtained as a result.

Just to be clear, the one drop is from regular kraken and the new drops are from abyssal kraken?

@Sparkle @Sjinderson

This is such a bad change. You have raids out here fighting for kraken 3 nights a week sometimes up to 10 hours for an Ink Sack and you want to hand one out based on RNG to a random player??? WTF?!?!? How does that make any sense at all these players that want a chance at the Ink Sac should come out and pvp at kraken for it like the rest of us!

can we get a poll for this cus i think this is a very very bad change and as Blitzed said there are Raids fighting over Kraken every night during abyssal and now u giving the chance that u can get a Kraken ink sac for less work kinda sucks .. and by that time u taking the option of the players away that go Kraken instead of Abyssal

There is no easy and simple way. The pack is luck. If you go to abyssal in the hopes of getting an inc sack you're going to be disappointed if not most of the time

Btw, I don't think it's in the main post.. but is this already implemented or will it be added during next week's maintenance?

umm how about you just increase the amount of ink sacs dropped per kill to something like red dragon, maybe 8-12, or if thats too much just make it like 5

This is plain and simple a stupid fucking idea, what ever group of whiney retards pushed for this needs a noose, we fight 3 times a week for 1-10 hours to kill this boss to get an ink sac. Making this change is essentially spitting in the face of probally 100-200 people if not more. If you want top end gear come out and fight for that ink sac you spineless fucks. The only way I'll be okay with this change is if you make the chance to get the ink sac pack 1 in 10000 and it pops a worldwide message with your toons name saying you mined said pack. If your looking to fix/balance the game you got alot more shit to look at before you even think about ink sac changes

Not sure if that would affect the crazy price it has atm.. if the same people keep getting the loot.

if only those who grind so hard for it right now wouldn't try sell it for insane prices.
