@Sparkle ignoring this issue is a bad choice no matter if you want to fix it or stay stubborn and pretend it is ok, ignoring only shows how little you care
 
So I have waited till now to compare the new player box with the so called "Appreciation Gifts for Active players" joke, but now I've enough of that to judge how much we are appreciated
from what I've seen so far, we get few loyalty tokens, two 24 expiry potions which really isn't that usefull, I bet they just expire on most ppl unless they farm purses, and a random bound item
I was kinda hoping we could get something cool for that, foolish as I was, but I was proven wrong, so far I have gotten Ember nyph (completely useless combat pet that's second rate even to cat) nightfire glider, which on one side is kinda cool, but on the other side I don't need it and I have no reason to ever use it, so useless, abyssal wavewyrm duplicate (aka already one of the most common costumes in game), which I was luckily able to trade for the beige one just so I don't have duplicate, and a carrot dash, which I absolutely disdain and was kinda expecting to get, but I really hoped I'd actually get mirage mount at least but still got somewhat "lucky" that I didn't get worse version of the snail that every active player can get from halloween event, which is really just an insult

so for the score 1) trash I don't want, 2) kinda cool but I don't want it, 3) most common costume I already have, 4) trash I don't want but others do
let me remind you that safe for the costume (where everybody got wavewyrm anyway) nothing is tradable, and stuff other ppl want but not me, while others get stuff they don't want and I'd love

now I hate to complain about free stuff, but when you are giving new players crazy gear that makes my progress feel worthless (armor I have after almost 1 year and costed me soo much effort) worth tens of thousands gold, it's really not that free anymore, and these "rewards" don't do much other then upset ppl because they got stuff they'd rather delete while others get what they'd want but don't want it either

anyone can see from far that giving players random lowgrade stuff without giving them the chance to trade it is a terrible idea and these gifts only add to the silence in this thread to show how little you care about ppl that support your server

I love this server, it was good experience to me so far, but most of my gear progression being lost to literary anyone who levels to 52 and then getting junk items that only force me to pay credits to expand warehouse being called appreciation gifts is a slap across the face

I completely agree, this stuff is all crap rewards, I tossed out 90% of the shit in this pack. I find the rewards completely insulting. BUT WAIT new players/returning players get a better pack. I’ve donated a lot to this server and I won’t spend another dime on it. You might as well of slapped me with a tampon with anthrax on it. What a joke! *Looks back* at what you gave for the first year pack to the rewards today. Before you had a donation pack just to show that you do appreciate the people keeping the server alive. With out us this server would not exist. If you want people to donate show us that you really appreciate us!
 
Yep, this shit is burning trash in a dumpster fire. They give 40k gold to people with a new account and save them countless hours, but they give active players who have stuck by them a bunch of RNG garbage. On top of it all, the rewards from this box are WORSE than what we've gotten in past anniversary events. i.e. You can get a celestial pegasus when you've already been given a stormwing pegasus last time that came with the horse gear.

It's a joke. I'm never donating again. All new players have to do is sign up, spend $5, and they get 40,000 gold worth of items and save them a year of grinding in library. Total, ridiculous bullshit.

Edit: They could have sent us out a pack with the same items that couldn't be regraded, upgraded, or traded, and I would have been happy with that. Gives you a chance to swap things up and play other classes that are too expensive to try because fuck changing gear and specs when it is so costly to do so.

They don't have to even donate for it, they get it literary free

@Sparkle you can give new players even erenors to try to drag them to your server, but when they are met with angry community that tells em admins just screwed them over big time, messed up some stuff in already bad update and then insulted them with silence in forums and trash items called "appreciation", it's obvious they will toss away their free gear and go look elsewhere, please start doing your damn job and do some damage control so we still have a server to fix with 4.5 update
 
Also, the impact on the economy. You give new accounts a whole bunch of shit so they don't have to work hard to get to that point, and that fucks the entire economy for people who have been here. These new people don't have to spend the gold to get where they are now, it's just 40,000 gold in value out of thin air every time some hits the Sign Up button.

They're here, they make gold, but they only have to spend it on no break charms or gemming their Obama gear. Meanwhile, there are people who have stuck by you who aren't even at this level of gear since November 2018.

You think giving these people a ton of free shit is going to get them to jump through all the hoops to donate with crypto? Maybe some of them. If the donations/credit system wasn't basically a casino on steroids, a lot of us would donate. But I'm not throwing away $100 once or twice a month to get a bunch of regrade scrolls and archeum dust.

And certainly not throwing away any money on people who give Cadillacs to new people and give the rest of us 87 Toyota pickups.
 
Playing devils advocate, Sparkle has stated that obs costs will drop dramatically by reset (tuesday), and what used to be 30 sunset pearls will become just 1.

So that went from over 5000 gold on an orb for a single piece of t5 obs, to 180g. You can no longer claim the pack is 40k, total cost for the orbs involved in T5 in the pack went from 41.000g to 1450. Yea new players are still getting the pack, but at this point theres no real obstacles for anyone to get the same.

Orbs will be dirt cheap, and grading to divine is 100% chance with a 300 gold anchor.
 
It was 40k value before the spellshift orb nonsense. Here, do this. Make me 100 obsidian divine T5s after reset and I'll gladly buy them all from you for 1500g each. Since it's dirt cheap and all. You'll make a good profit, right?

That is just the cost for the Spellshift Orbs needed to reseal lower tier, you still need a huge amount of other mats to turn 5 pieces of T2 armor to T5.
Some cannot be traded, that means one has to spend hours farming mobs in Auroria and in the Library.

The first two grades of obs use minimal mats and only need some moon/sun crystals, t3 and t4 remain very light on mats and need minimal amount of essence. T5 does require does require like 50 abyssal crystals and 30 moonlight essence, which is still only 270g from AH right now. T5 only requires some F2 lib mats, no "huge" amount of anything.

It all still costs gold, but its now at a point that any fairly established player can simply get it no problem, or else point me to where the obstacles are. Before the change i was trying to get a bow to t6 and just about gave up on the idea, im not going to spend 11.000g just for two orbs. Even more frustrating was knowing that a new player was getting it for nothing.

Now that anybody has access, it shouldn't be that much of a problem, or so i thought. If the discussion shifted to "but they still get stuff", well they were getting stuff before too, the celestial sets they were handed had value. If you'll ever only settle with "new folk get jack" then carry on.

They could have give them the soulforged gear and it would have been okay. THAT is a starter set. Divine T5 is pretty good gear even today. It's also the slap in the face of giving people who left or never played here a better package than people who have been here through it all for 2+ years.

Trion did the same type of shit. No meaningful veteran rewards. No reward for the amount of time invested.

The people who should be getting the best shit should be those who have been here for a long time and stayed active. That shows new people that the longer you stay, the better your rewards get. That shows people they should play, stay, and remain active.

so it is ok to hand out gear that costed us tens of thousands gold (divine obsid armor was around 10k at t1 when I was buing it) just because now it's slightly cheaper and slightly easier? also u critically fail to see the implications of this on the market and the server balance, think before you write your reply to us, because we did

also comparing celestial T2 with divine T5 when even geared ppl still use those at this point is just dumb, no way around it
 
Hopefully someone from the staff will reply soon with either "we are looking at this and plan to make a change" or "this thread is locked" because we can talk in circles all day but if they're not going to do anything we are still wasting our time.
 
Am I the only one not pissed about the pack we've gotten because it was free and I'm in no position to demand valuable stuff only because I choose to spend my time here ?

Yeah sucks for those that put time into the game but not enough to bypass a full divine t5 set, now forced to start from scratch or see others get equal stuff for free.
But nobody should complain about gifts we regular players are given. The greatest gift for me is that this server is free, everything else that the devs decide to hand out is something I don't see myself deserve for any reason. I play here for more than a year now. A Trion patron subscription was 12,99€ a month. Playing here has already saved me more than 150€. As a student, I consider that gift as more than anything I could ever ask for.

To those that donated: you donated. It doesn't make you more of a customer than other players. You shouldn't be requesting a special treatment only because you decided to volunarily support their work.

edit: Why are people comparing the value of what new players received and what they themselves received ? Wasn't that the whole purpose of a starter pack ? Closing gear gap, hello ? What's the point in handing out gear to catch up if you are just keeping the gap as it is by giving old players stuff of equal value.
