What's new

Are Erenor items coming or not?

Information regarding erenor or anything else is something you'll find out about with release of patch notes and not sooner.

You will know the details till the end of February, so not too much time left to wait.

They probably don't want the market manipulated any more than it is. Mats for the gear have gone up in the market already and if they weren't going to have them they'd crash into the ground and if they were they'd probably go up in price more than they are. It's hard to implement updates when people are preparing because they know what's ahead. Surprise is part of the fun.

If we were to know what was coming ahead of time on this server, it'd make any possible market crash less severe if we know about it early on. It's kind of like what happened with Thunderstrucks on Live. People were monopolizing the TS tree market knowing that not far down the line, XL implements ways to introduce more TS trees into the game. In the major patch it happened in, the item in question wasn't even in patch notes as far as I can remember, and 3 things happened.

1. Players who knew nothing about the item in KR rejoiced at the TS tree influx into the market.
2. Players who knew about the item in KR and were prepared for the influx by looking towards a different horizon to make gold.
3. Players who knew but chose not to care because they saw the item wasn't in patch notes and were subsequently really pissed off that their efforts and trees they hoarded for months was now worth 5% of what it once was, and then quit while the market (thankfully) crashed hard.

If the admins keep holding out what changes they're planning, items that we know will be of high value will keep rising until 2 things happen:

1. The item is left unchanged in 3.5, and they'll skyrocket once the "slower" people realize what they're going to need. We're seeing this right now. People are offloading Gilda Dust because it's made obsolete in 3.5 (replaced in Synthium Stone recipes by Charcoal Stabilizers), and people are increasing the cost of Charcoal Stabilizers because people are hoarding mass quantities to turn a huge profit (When 3.5 dropped, Charcoal was up to 15g each for a solid 2 weeks before eventually normalizing to 8g). Prices will continue to rise and then the week before 3.5 drops, all the slow-reacting players are going to drive prices of those items through the roof, and that massive inflation will set a new precedent for prices (see my previous posts regarding Cold Anguish as an example of what I mean).
2. They choose to modify it in 3.5, and the items will normalize back to what they were once the people stockpiling realize there was no need to sound the alarms. They've already told us that Charcoal Stabilizers will be removed from crafting Hereafter Stones, which means other recipes can be affected. If they choose to reduce the cost of crafting gear in 3.5 (because a 339% increase in crafting materials is no joke) or they choose to keep Gilda Dust in the crafting recipe for Synthium Stones, then that will inform people that they don't need to stockpile or use up those items ASAP.

The higher the cost rises now, the lower the cost will be if the market tanks. Everyone with half a brain is already battening down the hatches expecting the worst (Live's 3.5 patch notes and beyond), because that's all the information we have to go on with it. The longer we go without information to help us prepare our friends and guildmates, the worse the market gets. It's basically the US housing market. Demand mixed with speculation drives up the cost of valuable items. Prices will keep on going up and up and up until we actually get the detailed information we need. And then based on that information, demand will decrease while supply increases or vice versa, and then prices will change dramatically for better or worse. By giving us information to compare and contrast to Live's 3.5, we as a community can get a better understanding of what we're about to be dealing with, and it will allow normalization of the market at a softer and quicker rate because there would be no speculation of goods involved. We would know what's going on.
