March Madness Event Idea (PvP)

This is an idea to see what large scale pvp would be like assuming everyone was equally or at least int he same ballpark geared. The event is simple on the 12th of March and lasting till the 2nd of April. The event is a strictly PvP only event in which all the current Sparring Arena buffs become titles that can be chosen for the below equipped effects. All PvP zone values will be in effect with a triple (thats 6 times with the current double honor) honor event for the length of the event. Some people may be above these values and they can choose to not equip it. Those that lack this can at least be competently equipped to handle larger scale battles. This also would allow more chances for socketing of chest and leg gear for the developers to see the rates of failure and possibly tweak it slightly.

The reasoning behind this if possible is so we can see a baseline scale of how everyone can play in a more balanced world conflict. Afterwards we may be able to tweak the above values and if possible leave them in place with endless possible boosts or nerfs (Like removing offensive stats but leaving the defensive in place) to make it to where there is a gear gap, but something new players or PvE players wouldn't get one shot in. I am asking for these as they are already in the game, I see custom titles already being made and think if we could add these values in to some titles we could see if the argument is valid and if sparking more world conflict would attract long term players in a semi-esport style (basically more balanced combat).

Any thoughts?

Interesting idea. How would you stop someone from not wearing the title?

Thank you for the interesting idea. We may take part of it and re-work in the future, but as it is right now, it can be hard to be implemented.
If we make these titles, we can only make them to be automatically worn by the player in the specific location when he enters it but can't make it not to be worn there. It's also impossible to take it off when player leaves the location. That means player will be able to use this title with a pretty good buff everywhere on the map, including places with world bosses that give big rewards and strong mobs, much easier than intended.
Such buff will also make bots farm much easier, especially at the night time, when we have much less players in game.
 
What i always hated about the arena gear buff is defensive fighter gets zero magic defence. The only class this benefits is an abolisher. Every other class who plays defence but doesnt have the magic buffs is a 2 shot.
 
Had an additional plan to type up when I get off work that might help. It's a change from titles to something else. Will update soon hopefully with more detail.
 
Just make a new portal in the Two Crowns arena. On entering you can pick one type of Ayanad set of the desired element and material (leather/cloth/plate), then proceed to select weapons and lute by element and accessories by the same. Give the arena a 1 min timer for each round (3 rounds) to pick and swap what you want/want to change.

There are no buffs allowed, also no gear will have gems/frosts. Gear and weapons will be of epic quality. The arena acts as both a preview ground and balanced arena.
 
If we could have make somekind of battleground to fight with a group of, lets say, 10-15 ppl, that would be simply amazing. Just imagine a map where 5 teams fight eachother untill only 1 group remain on the arena.

In short What I was thinking was a Undergarment slot item with a couple hours of time to it for something most bots do not have easy access to like Honor or Credits. Enabling the slot with a steep buy in and some cheaper repeat options like below would limit bot chances of obtaining them. Would it break the game? Not really, overgeared players would still have a steep advantage in terms of their survivability and damage output vs people wearing this. But it would make it to where a 5 man group of new players could actually have a chance against one or two of them.

Toughness: 1765 (Similar to full gemmed Celestial)

Do you mean it should be some item giving a few hours buff to the player? But many players worked hard for their Celestial and may not be glad to become the same level as more new player that may use same buff.

In a PvP game ??? The more people who are the same tier the better, this is so far a PvP game without the PvP. The biggest killer of Archeage is the gap between players gear, its the same thing that kills it over and over and over and over. The more this server does to limit the gap the better.

Sure some people will be annoyed, but so thats just selfishness. Im 4.8k and i dont mind players getting boosted to 4.5k
