Best weapon choice for Spellsinger?

I have many doubts about what is the best weapon for this class.

Staff V1 does a lot of damage with the high magic def penetration that it has
Staff V2 has less magic def pen less but secures the charm effect to cast fear

Builds with shield to reduce damage taken worth or is better a dagger with decreased cast time? I mean, if you get caught by a darkrunner or something like that you are pretty dead any ways, and the spellsinger doesn't have many cast spells that worth the cast time reduction from the dagger. But also the dagger has int and magic damage.

For main hand the katana has a lot of cast time reduction plus tons of stamina; but the scepter has stamina+int and magic def penetration.

Staff synergies with the main intent of the class best. If Obsidian, Id recommend Epic or better as you will need to blow people up before they can CC you. V2 is designed for the Spellsinger combos but V1 allows you to switch around to other mage classes and still have a beneficial passive. If you swap around more often then V1 would probably be better.

You can go Offhand + Shield and while it can keep you alive longer (not too much longer) its better suited for classes that dish out CC. Still if you get caught and are in cloth, its only going to allow you to survive a couple more hits before going down. If you plan to spec heavy into casting moves, like Spellsinger, O. Katana is great. If you plan to play more instacast focused mages, like Revenants, a Sceptor is best.

Most Spellsingers have a good amount of cast time abilities but between Ditty and your armor reductions, you will be fine as long as you hit hard when you do connect.

Honesty, you can go either of these routes and as long as you are getting some kills and having fun, its not really wrong, but IMO staff is the ideal weapon for what the class is intended to do.

Go V2 staff, the extra bit of magic defense pen is negligible especially in 3.0. Idk what retards are voting V1 staff lol
nobody runs shrug in 3.0 so its actually good to have the stun

Scepter dagger means you have twice as much room for crit gems, with the new patch allowing us to safely put 2 gems you can get to 32% crit damage with no risk of breaking, as opposed to staff's 20%
also, you can swap to a shield to play other mage specs

What???? People still run shrug for the stun and impale break (mostly for stun). What the hell are you talking about?

You're job is to burst people down quickly. You want to hit people hard so i go for Staff. V1 or V2? @Wyzpr already has the answer
